Anglican College Ministry

ACM is an outreach of Christ Church serving the students and community of the University of Virginia. Please join us for our weekly worship service at 5pm, which is a mix of traditional Anglican liturgy, extraordinarily good music led by Alex Mejias, and biblical preaching. We are geared toward students but open to the whole community. A free catered dinner follows the service during the regular school sessions.

In addition to the Sunday service, students are invited to join community groups meeting throughout the week, the Wednesday evening dinner and class (”Christian Belief”), the men’s bible study on Tuesday mornings, the women’s groups meeting throughout the week, the adult education classes are Sunday mornings, as well as the arts community events and concerts.

During the Fall and Spring semester, we charter a UVA bus to pick up students at 4:30pm in front of the Chemistry Building on McCormick Road. The bus returns to the grounds at 7 p.m. Sorry, there is no bus service during the summer.

  • Collect for Purity

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, page 355)

The Word

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

The Prayer

Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, p. 222)
