At Christ Church we offer four worship services on Sunday.

  • Our 7:45 a.m. Rite One Communion service is primarily spoken, with organ music during communion followed by a closing hymn.
  • The 9:00 a.m. Rite Two Communion family worship offers blended musical styles.
  • At 11:00 a.m., Rite One Communion (first/third Sundays) alternates with Morning Prayer (second Sundays, fourth Sundays followed by Eucharist at St. Anne’s Chapel); the Adult Choir, accompanied by the organ, leads traditional hymns and anthems.
  • A 5:00 p.m. Rite One Communion includes contemporary arrangements of traditional hymns. The service is followed by a dinner.
In addition to the Sunday services, we also offer:
  • Healing Service (first Wednesday of every month) at 10am
  • Holy Communion at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge at 11:15 am (last Wednesday of every month)

The church is located at 120 W. High Street (across from McGuffey Park in downtown Charlottesville). Click here for a map and directions and here for some places to park.

  • Collect for Purity

Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, page 355)

The Word

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

The Prayer

Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, p. 222)
