Dear Christ Church Family,

Grace and peace to each of you. And I mean extra grace and extra peace during this time! I’ll try to keep this short with just 3 important announcements.  As we are operating online now, please check our website frequently for updates.

1) THANK YOU.  Thank you for your generosity these past weeks. Many people have been able to prepay pledges and give some extra. We have also gotten support from people all over the country who subscribe to the Almost Daily Devotional and who have watched on our online church services. I am extremely grateful.

2) AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP.  Per a parishioner’s astute suggestion, we have started a COVID-19 EMERGENCY FUND. Perhaps you won’t need your stimulus check from the government? Would you like to help those in our community directly affected by the crisis? This Emergency Fund is created specifically for that purpose. It will be administered and dispersed at the clergy’s discretion in consultation with the Senior Warden. We are aware of needs both within our Christ Church community as well as other individuals and organizations in Charlottesville. The money will be used locally and in direct response to this crisis; I think this is an excellent way for Christ Church to serve our immediate neighbors. See the COVID-19 EMERGENCY FUND link on the website about how to give.

3) HOLY WEEK OFFERINGS. Join us for church on Palm Sunday! In preparation, if you would like to snip off a branch from a leafy tree to wave as we sing “All Glory Laud and Honor” then please do so. We will also offer a Good Friday service, and, of course, an Easter service (please note that we won’t be able to list lily dedications in the Easter bulletin this year). Info about those will be in next week’s Rector’s Message. Next week, my Almost Daily Devotions will be specific to each day in Holy Week. And as an added bonus, Bill Duxbury has filmed his extraordinary 5 session series on Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion. You can access it here.

As a final note, listen and listen again to Sam Bush and Team’s reassuring Songs of Comfort streaming now on our website here. I do pray that you will be upheld and supported now and always by “the God of all comfort.”  And if I can be of any comfort to you, please call me (293-2347) or email me (paul@christchurchcville.org).

Ever Yours,
Paul
