Tenebrae | Holy Week 2024
Tenebrae is from the Latin word for "darkness", and the service is characterized by the gradual extinguishing of candles. The most conspicuous feature of the service is the gradual extinguishing of candles and other lights in the church until only a single candle, considered a symbol of our Lord, remains. The men of Christ Church's Choir will chant responsorially with the gathered congregation.

Shrove Tuesday
This year our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will fall on February 13th. Our Christ Church Youth will be hosting this event as a fundraiser for their summer mission trip.
Come and go for this “open house” style pancake buffet.
This event is a special fundraiser for our youth mission trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. A love offering will be taken - pay what you will.
Newcomer Reception
Newcomers are invited to join us at 5pm, directly before the Pancake Supper, in the Donovan Room (church library) for a welcome reception. The Clergy and Staff will be here to greet you all. We will have nibbles, wine and sparkling water for everyone. Nursery will be provided!
Marilu Thomas Reception
All are welcome to attend the reception for Marilu on October 1st during the 10 o’clock coffee hour. The Downtown Counseling Center will also be open from 10:30-11:30 for those who like to see it.
After 9 years of faithful service as our Associate Rector, Marilu is retiring from her role in order to work full-time at the Downtown Counseling Center, beginning October 1. In lieu of the usual thank you purse given to retiring clergy, Marilu has requested that funds be given to the DCC in thanksgiving for her ministry among us. You can give by clicking the donate button on the DCC website. Or you can make a check out. Make checks payable to CHRIST CHURCH and write Marilu Thomas on the memo line.
