Christ Church Preschool is a ministry of Christ Episcopal Church. Our desire is to love children by creating a joyful learning environment where they experience the grace of God.
Both middle school and high school students are warmly invited to participate in our youth group activities at Christ Church. In addition to weekly youth group meetings on Sunday evenings, there are weekend retreats, service opportunities, and…well just ask our youth minister Rebecca Lankford, email@example.com, or check out our Youth Page.
Every Sunday from September through mid-June, adult education is offered from the hour of 10-11 am (between services) in the Gibson Room on the bottom floor of the church. Courses generally run 4-6 weeks, and topics range from church history and Bible study to Christian themes in literature and film to family life and relationships. In addition to the Sunday morning classes, each Fall and Spring we offer dinner courses on Wednesday evenings that run for either four or six weeks. Not to be missed! For a schedule of upcoming classes, and recordings of recent ones, go here.

Since 2008, the small garage on 1st Street next the Hill and Wood funeral home has served as an arts space for Christ Church, hosting countless concerts, movies, exhibitions, auctions, the list goes on. The hill across the street in Lee Park even makes for ideal seating. All events are open to the general public, and for the schedule of upcoming ones, please visit The Garage website. Or you to stay informed, be sure to join The Garage Facebook group. If you are interested in using The Garage for an event, please contact Sam Bush at firstname.lastname@example.org. Music plays an absolutely vital role in the spiritual life of Christ Church. Whether it’s our gifted adult choir (that sings each week at the 11 am service), our versatile praise band (9 am and 5 pm), the spirited junior choir (grades 2-6), our celebrated bell choir, our annual Bach’s Lunch series, there are many opportunities to experience the rich tradition of sacred music at Christ Church. For more information about specific offerings, or how to get involved, please visit our Music Ministry page.
CEC College Ministry
Christ Church is extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to serve the students and community of the University of Virginia, and we have been thrilled to see the enthusiastic response with which our efforts have been met. Our primary outreach to students–both undergraduate and graduate alike–is our 5:00 pm service on Sunday evening, which is a mix of traditional Anglican liturgy, extraordinarily good music, and accessible, Gospel-centered preaching. During the school year, we serve a delicious free dinner following the service to anywhere from 100-200 hungry student mouths! For more information go here.
Loaves & Fishes
Christ Church’s Loaves & Fishes Ministry provides a hot meal from 12:00 to 1:00 pm every Tuesday to anyone who walks in the door – no questions asked. For more information go here.
High Street Hymns
In April 2007, a team of musicians from Christ Church released a full-length album of hymns, a reflection of the worship provided at both the 9am and 5pm services. This recording features original musical settings to cherished texts found in the 1982 Hymnal, such as “Christ Whose Glory Fills The Skies” and “Praise My Soul The King of Heaven.” Since then, High Street Hymns has released four more records of hymns, including a Christmas release.

Not everyone knows that Christ Church is home to an exciting little non-profit organization called Mockingbird Ministries. Mockingbird is devoted to connecting the Christian message with the realities of everyday life in fresh and creative ways, which they do via their hyperactive website (www.mbird.com), semi-annual conferences and ongoing publications initiative. Some of their recent publications include , Grace in Addiction: The Good News of Alcoholics Anonymous for Everybody, This American Gospel: Public Radio Parables and the Grace of God, and The Merciful Impasse: The Sermon on the Mount for Those Who’ve Crashed (and Burned). To learn more about Mockingbird, or to find out how you can get involved, visit their website or email David Zahl at email@example.com.
