Christ Church is extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to serve the students and community of the University of Virginia, and we have been thrilled to see the enthusiastic response with which our efforts have been met. Our primary outreach to students–both undergraduate and graduate alike–is our 5:00PM service on Sunday evening, which is a mix of traditional Anglican liturgy, extraordinarily good music, and accessible, Gospel-centered preaching. During the school year, we serve a delicious free dinner following the service to anywhere from 100-200 hungry student mouths!
We also provide transportation to first-years (and whomever else) to and from church. Rides meet across from the old dorms in front of the Psychology building at 4:45PM and drop folks back off in the same spot after dinner, around 7:00PM. For more information, please email David Zahl at email@example.com or Catherine Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org
It should be noted that while both the service and meal are geared toward students, they are open to the whole community.
Our annual overnight retreat is a great chance to catch your breath, relax, and hopefully get some perspective. It happens this year on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Watch this space for more details.
In addition to the Sunday service, students are invited to join community groups meeting throughout the week, the men’s bible study on Tuesday mornings, the women’s groups meeting throughout the week, the adult education classes on Sunday mornings, as well as the arts community events and concerts.
Our College Ministers are Dave Zahl (email@example.com) as well as Catherine Allen (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you have any questions or are looking for ways to connect/get involved, they are available.
