A native of Charlottesville and a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Culinary Institute of America, Courtenay returned home in 2009. Prior to her return, Courtenay spent time living abroad in both England and Italy, in England working at a boarding school as a University of Virginia UK Fellow, and in Italy as an intern on the 1400-acre organic farm, Spannocchia. She also spent time in both Washington, DC and New York City, in Washington working for both a political campaign and environmental non-profit, and in New York City, completing a kitchen internship at Saveur Magazine. Upon returning to Charlottesville, Courtenay became the Café Manager at Feast! and then the Chef and Culinary Educator at the PB&J Fund, a local non-profit devoted to teaching children and families healthy cooking habits. A 2016/2017 Christ Church Fellow, Courtenay is thrilled to now be on staff as Outreach Minister, to be both Marilu’s Assistant in Mission and Service as well as Newcomer Welcomer.
