Term expires 2020. I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and am a graduate of Vanderbilt University. I came to Charlottesville in 1973 to pursue a masters degree in Counselor Education at UVA. After teaching for 2 years at St. Anne’s-Belfield I married Bill Macilwaine, whom I met in graduate school, and we moved to Durham, NC for Bill’s Ophthalmology residency. While in Durham I taught in the middle school at Durham Academy. In 1980 we moved to Charlottesville and after raising three sons I was the owner of a retail business for 10 years and I am currently employed by Caspari.
In 1982 I was confirmed at Christ Church. Since that time I have been president of the ECW, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served on the stewardship committee and the Vestry and am currently an usher at the 5:00 pm service. I support the Fellows’ program by scheduling Fellows’ dinners with parish families.
Over the past 35 years the clergy of Christ Church have baptized and confirmed my three sons, married one son, baptized my grandchildren, and performed last rites and funeral services for family members and beloved friends. It has been a source of great comfort and I am deeply grateful for our clergy and for the Christ Church mission of preaching the gospel.
