Term expires 2020. Amanda and I were confirmed at Christ Church in April 2016. We have four adult children who are scattered from South Carolina to Baltimore and three grandchildren (all in SC). I served on the UVA Systems Engineering faculty for 13 years and, prior to that, was a Senior Scientist at SAIC (now Leidos) in Northern Virginia, where we lived for 21 years before moving to Charlottesville. I am now transitioning into retirement. Our son introduced us to Christ Church about five years ago and, I can say that, even at this stage in our lives, Christ Church has opened our eyes to new ways of thinking, believing, and perceiving God’s grace. We are not lifelong Episcopalians, but what I am learning is that our faith is less about the label on the door and more about the community of faith and our mutual understanding and acceptance of each other as members of the body of Christ, regardless of where we came from, what we do, and who we are. We have had the opportunity to participate in both local and international ministries through Christ Church and have grown to appreciate these ministries. I am honored to be asked to serve on the Vestry at Christ Church and look forward to this opportunity to serve.
