Understanding Islam from a Christian Perspective

The lecture will seek to “help us understand Islam in more depth than offered through the media and how we, as Christians, can respond with intelligence, humility and confidence.” Dr. Marshall teaches at Duke and is pretty much a world expert on the subject.

Before joining the Duke faculty in Spring 2013, Marshall worked as a research fellow of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, & World Affairs at Georgetown University, serving as the academic director of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Building Bridges Seminar for Christian and Muslim scholars. He is ordained in the Church of England and served as a parish priest and taught in a variety of settings, including Edinburgh, Oxford, and Notre Dame in London. He also served as chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury from 2000-2005.
