Adult Sunday School Class: 8:50-9:50 a.m: The Grammar of God (led by Erin Wells). This class will meet Oct. 12-Dec. 14th in the Donovan room. Please see the bulletin board outside of Meade Hall for a full description. Next week’s topic: Incarnation.
Clergy-led Adult Sunday School: 10:10-10:50 a.m.: The Supremacy of Christ. Dave Johnson, Justin Holcomb and Paul Walker are teaching a class on Jesus-who he is and what he did according to the book of Colossians. The class will meet in the Monticello room today.
The men of Christ Church are invited to attend a weekly Bible Study on the Book of Romans, Tuesday mornings from 7:15 - 8:00 in Meade Hall. Bagels and coffee are available beginning at 7:00.
The women of Christ Church are invited to attend a weekly Bible study on David, Thursday mornings in the Gibson room at 9:30. They are using a study guide by Beth Moore entitled, A Heart Like His.
There will be a baby shower for Justin & Lindsey Holcomb today at 12:30 p.m. in the Gibson room. Join us!
Children’s Choir (gr. 1-4) meets on Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00 p.m. (note new time) and will sing at the 9:00 a.m. service on Nov. 23rd, joined by the Youth Choir. New members are welcome! The Adult Handbell Choir has one more ringing position open. The group is preparing music for the Lessons and Carols service on Dec. 21. Rehearsals are Sundays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Contact David Norfrey (see above) if interested.
The United Thank Offering Fall Ingathering will take place next Sunday, Nov. 16. Every penny of your United Thank Offering supports grants for both domestic and foreign mission work. You do not need a UTO envelope to make a donation. Simply write UTO on the memo line of your check and make it payable to Christ Church. If you are donating cash, UTO envelopes will be available in the Narthex. Please write your name on the envelope. Thank you.
Hymn Sing: Join us Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Meade Hall. BIFROST ARTS, a non-profit organization dedicated to the renewal of enthusiasm and excellence in sacred music, will be with us.
Youth Group is on tonight! Both Middle and High School Youth Groups will meet as usual from 6:45-8pm tonight… hope to see you there!
5 o’clock Dinner Helpers Needed: Please contact Merle Robertson at 973-2749 if you are willing to assist with serving dinner to the UVA students after the evening service. A commitment of 3 hours, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., factors in attendance at the service.
Profile Committee Formed: A committee has been formed to establish a profile of Christ Church. The purpose is three-fold: it was requested by the Bishop as part of Paul’s appointment as “Priest-in-Charge,” it will serve as a guide for Paul if he is appointed Rector at the end of his two-year term, and it will be used in the unlikely event that a traditional search must be conducted for a Rector. Angel Tree Program: There will be a Christmas party for children of incarcerated parents on December 6th at Christ Church from 1-3:30 pm. Please consider participating in the Angel Tree program this Christmas. Contact Lindsey Holcomb at lindseyvardy@yahoo.com.
Operation Christmas Child: Please donate shoe boxes, school supplies, stuffed animals, small toys and toiletries for needy children around the world. Collection boxes are in Meade Hall and in the various Sunday School rooms. The last day to collect boxes will be Nov. 22nd.
Casserole Ministry: If you know of anyone who is sick or could use dinner delivered to their house, please contact Merle Robertson at 973-2749.
The Shawl Knitting Ministry meets from 10-11 a.m. every 2nd and 4th Wednesday in the Jefferson Heights Apartment’s 3rd floor craft room located at 1550 Pantops Mountain Place. If you have questions, please call Merle Robertson at 973-2749.
