Christ Church Vestry
Keven Lindemann
With the exception of a few years in Colorado after college, Charlottesville has been home since 1987. Attended a number of different churches in the area, but didn’t find a home until I started attending Christ Church regularly about six years ago. Have settled in with the 9am Sunday service and the special Wednesday midweek communion service, when work travel allows. Laura and I have four children, and we appreciate all that Christ Church does for us and for the community. The clear and constant message of grace and love and forgiveness is a real blessing in our lives. I work downtown at S&P Global.
Brian Tuskey, Junior Warden
Originally from Richmond, my wife Anne and I moved to Charlottesville in 2011 after six years in Baltimore. As newlyweds in Baltimore, despite having backgrounds in different denominations, we found a home at a downtown Episcopal church. We quickly connected with the church’s teachings and the congregation, and it was a perfect fit for us. After moving to Charlottesville, we were drawn to Christ Church by the welcoming and active community and by the focus on the gospel’s message of grace. My family attends the 9:00 service. We have two children — Brandon (7) and Mollie (almost 3), who was baptized here by Marilu. I am a practicing architect and adjunct professor at UVA.
John Desmond, Tresurer
I was born and raised in Charlottesville, and graduated from James Madison University. My wife Debbie and I live in Albemarle County and have three grown children. For most of my professional life I was a partner in a group of companies that developed land and commercial and residential properties in central Virginia. I retired in 2011 and returned to the work force in 2012 as Vice President of Operations/CFO for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. I came to Christ Church in 2000. I’m currently in my second term as treasurer and have served previously on Vestry and on the Finance and Endowment Committees. Christ Church is my church home because of the consistent message of grace expressed with humility.
Ginger Holub, Registrar
Charlottesville became my home in 1980. As a special education teacher, I assumed the role as education consultant in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Nephrology Clinics at UVA where I spent 33 wonderful years working with families whose children faced serous medical challenges. A few years ago, my husband, Bob, and I were seeking a strong spiritual anchor. After visiting other churches, we attended a service at Christ Episcopal and knew we had struck gold. We knew immediately the many outreach services were perfect for us. We love this church, its staff and all it gives to our community.

Originally from Northern Virginia, I arrived at UVa for undergrad in 2004 and have resided in Charlottesville ever since. I began attending Christ Church in 2005, met my wife Catherine that same year, and since then we’ve been grateful to have Paul Walker and Christ Church as a constant in our lives—Paul has married us and baptized both of our boys, Coleman (3) and Robert (1). I work in communications at Generation 180, a local nonprofit focused on educating consumers about renewable energy. As Catherine and I navigate this season of parenting young children, we’re especially grateful to have the preaching, worship, and community of Christ Church as a steady beacon of gospel truth in our lives.

After being in Charlottesville during my undergraduate years at UVA, I was thrilled when my husband’s job brought us back here in 2012. Charlottesville has now become “home” to me, my husband, Kevin, and our 13-year old twins, Charlie and Abby, along with our dog and two cats. After working for fifteen years as a small animal veterinarian, I am currently taking a pause to be at home with our kids. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for our family to find Christ Church once we moved to Charlottesville. We were drawn in by the welcoming members, the many opportunities for service and community outreach, and the ever present messages of grace, forgiveness and love. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the ladies of the Thursday morning Women’s Bible Study, and my children love participating in Youth Group. I am so thankful to be a part of the amazing fellowship of Christ Church, and I look forward to the day when we can step into the sanctuary and worship again together.

Melissa and I moved to Charlottesville in 1972 after I graduated from medical school at Columbia, and except for two years on active duty with the Navy as a physician have lived here ever since. Melissa is a cradle Episcopalian and she introduced me to the beautiful liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer when I was an undergraduate at Princeton. Since moving to Charlottesville we have attended Christ Church where I have served on the Vestry on three previous occasions, serving once as Senior Warden. I am retired from practicing medicine and have been involved in many aspects of our church life. Our daughters were raised in this church, and it is in every good sense my church home. I am grateful to the Holy Spirit for guiding us here so many years ago and sustaining us here ever since.
Laura Josey
I was born and raised in Amery, Wisconsin. After a college internship in Richmond, I had a desire to move to Virginia and was fortunate to end up in Charlottesville in 2006. I started attending Christ Church shortly after and was warmly welcomed by the message of grace and love. I was confirmed here in 2008. My husband, Paul, and I met in Charlottesville and were married in 2011 at Buck Mountain Episcopal Church in Earlysville (the church was under renovations then). We typically attend the 7:45 service with our 2 children, Jane and Keith. We love to travel and explore the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am currently the controller at a local winery.
Melanie Roy
Born and raised in Syracuse NY, I attended Syracuse University earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. After teaching Kindergarten and First Grade for 18 years, I retired in 2006. Virginia has been my home for 45 years, most recently in Charlottesville where I have resided since 2010. I love Charlottesville and all that it has to offer. My family includes my three adult children, a son residing in Virginia Beach, two daughters (and one son-in-law) in Charlottesville and six grandchildren, ranging in age from 8-14. I am a regular attendee of our 9am service and the teaching series that often follow. The numerous opportunities to connect with our clergy, fellow parishioners and staff through Bible Study, community outreach and church events has been so welcoming and faith-filled from day one. Finding the grace, love and acceptance that is Christ Church has been such a blessing in my life.
Andy Anderson
I am a native of Buckingham County, VA. I began my career as an educator in Northumberland County, and was the last principal of the segregated school in Fluvanna which had been built with funds that my grandfather helped raise. Then I became the first principal of the integrated school. I served as assistant principal at Albemarle High School for thirteen years and principal at the Middle School in Madison Co. for eleven years. I also served on one of the first Board of Directors of the Monticello Area Community Action Agency, Meals on Wheels and in various boards of the Lions Club. My wife, Lina, and I began attending Christ Episcopal Church in 1998 and officially joined in 2012. We attend and usher at the 7:45 service.
Bill Herbert
Now retired, Bill Herbert’s career was devoted to academic medicine, teaching at UNC, Duke, and UVA, with about 10 years at each institution. He and Marsha moved from Duke/Chapel Hill to Charlottesville in early 2000 when he was named Chair of the Dept of Ob/Gyn at UVA. A lifelong Episcopalian, Bill and Marsha attended several Episcopal parishes here until settling into Christ Episcopal about 10 years ago. Bill and Marsha appreciate and enjoy all elements of our parish, and they “have been happier” at CEC than in all their past churches. They have two grown sons, both married, and both with two children. The age range of their four grandchildren is from 5-13 years old. The closer family lives in LA; the other in Abu Dhabi — travel to/with family is a priority for them. Bill is active in our Men’s Bible Study and in our Prison Ministry. They regularly attend the 900 am service. In addition to CEC, Bill and Marsha enjoy our C’ville community and UVA (especially sports). The question most frequently asked of them is which ACC team they support the most: the answer is UVA!
