Monthly Drives

  • September: Stepping Stone

Stepping Stone is in need of gift cards from Target, Amazon, Walmart and Costco to purchase diapers, wipes, hygiene products, post-partum products for moms and feeding supplies (bottles, sippy cups, plates/bowls, etc.) Stepping Stone is tax exempt at Target and Amazon. If you are able to provide a gift card, please drop them off at the Magruder House anytime during the week. An envelope will be provided just inside the door for easy drop off. Please email Courtenay courtenay@christchurchcville.org with any questions.

"Stepping Stone was established in 2021 to meet a unique need: to provide children ages newborn to three from under-resourced families with essentials that ensure their healthy development and safety. By focusing on an underserved demographic and age range, we make sure the most vulnerable members of our community start life on the right foot."

  • October: Cville Sock Love

We will be collecting NEW socks in ALL sizes for Cville Sock Love — fun ones for hospitalized kids, and basic socks for our neighbors in need.

Founded in 2017 by two teenagers from First United Methodist Church, Cville Sock Love initially donated fun, uplifting socks to children undergoing inpatient treatment at central Virginia children’s hospitals. They've since expanded their mission to provide basic socks to under-resourced individuals and groups in our area. These group include Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia, PACEM, the Thomas Jefferson Area Coalition for the Homeless, People Places and more.

  • November: Haven Sleeping Bag Drive

As cold weather settles in, The Haven will be needing sleeping bags (NOT blankets) to give to their guests sleeping outside.

"Motivated by radical hospitality, The Haven strives to be the point of entry for people seeking stable housing. The Haven opens their doors wide for any and everyone, no matter their circumstances. Every day, The Haven's trained staff and dedicated community volunteers come together, working side by side to make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring for our neighbors."

  • December: Georgia's Friends House

To bring Christmas to the house, Christ Church will again partner with Georgia’s Friends House to help with both stocking stuffer and house supplies wish lists.

Georgia's Friends House is a therapeutic and structured home to help women suffering from drug addiction and co-occurring mental challenges.
